主题讲座活动现场 (Conference Site)
On Jul.16th, “Earthquake Engineering Comprehensive Simulation Innovation and Intelligence Induction Base, Zhihui Forum” was started in the conference room D401, Building No.43 of Tianjin University. In order to promote the construction of new engineering, deepen international exchanges and cooperation, and use the interdisciplinary role to promote the development of innovative engineering excellence talents, this lecture invited Xiangxiong Kong, the assistant professor of Civil Engineering at the University of Guam in the US to give us a report.
This report was welcomed by Prof. Jie Xu, School of Civil Engineering. More than 50 teachers and graduate students attended the report. The titles of the lecture are “Fatigue Crack Monitoring in Steel Bridges Using A Smart Sensing Skin” and “Vision-Based Approaches for Structural Inspection of Civil Infrastructure”. Dr. Kong’s research significance on the health monitoring methods of smart sensing skin and the vision-based approaches. The applicability of these methods is also introduced in this lecture. The durability of the smart sensing skin, the methods of data collection and processing have been heatedly exchanged and discussed during the report.
Introduction of Dr. Xiangxiong Kong:
Dr. Xiangxiong Kong is the assistant professor of Civil Engineering at the University of Guam in the US since 2019. His research interests include structural health monitoring, earthquake engineering, and computer vision applications in civil engineering. He is the co-author of more than 20 journal articles and conference papers. Dr. Kong’s recent article entitled “Vision-based fatigue crack detection of steel structures using video feature tracking” was listed as one of the most downloaded papers in the Journal of Computer-Aided Civil and Infrastructure Engineering (IF 5.475).(建工学院供稿)
