On Jun.26th, “Earthquake Engineering Comprehensive Simulation Innovation and Intelligence Induction Base, Zhihui Forum” was started in the conference room of the State Key Laboratory of 43# building of Tianjin University. In order to promote the construction of new engineering, deepen international exchanges and cooperation, and use the interdisciplinary role to promote the development of innovative engineering excellence talents, this lecture invited Professor Jin Zou, chair in nanoscience of the University of Queensland, Australia to give a report.

This report was welcomed by Professor Qinghua Han, dean of School of Civil Engineering. More than 50 teachers and graduate students from the institution of civil engineering attended the report. The title of this lecture is “Giant Impact from Tiny Objects – Power of Nanotechnology”. In the report, Professor Zou’s research significance on nanomaterials, the shape and structure of nanomaterials, and the chemical properties, the preparation and display properties of nano-scale materials, such as the hot issues of nanotechnology research and development. The application prospects in the field have been heatedly exchanged and discussed during the report.

Introduction of Professor Jin Zou:

Jin Zou is a Professor in the School of Mechanical and Mining Engineering (Materials Engineering) and the Centre for Microscopy and Microanalysis at the University of Queensland, Australia. As a Chair in Nanoscience. Professor Zou's research interest has been focused on the understanding of the evolution of advanced, smart and nano-scaled materials and the understanding of fundamental properties of these materials through detailed correlating their fabrication and demonstrated properties with their morphological, structural and chemical characteristics (determined by electron microscopy); and on the formation of high-performance functional nanomaterials and their advanced applications, particular in the fields of energy and environmental protection. So far, Professor Zou published over 650 SCI articles with most of them published in leading international journals, which have attracted over 19,000 citations and led to an H-index of 66.(建工学院供稿)
