Dear teachers, and fellow students, Good morning!
我是你们的巴铁兄弟艾洛斯! a PhD graduate from the School of Earth System Science at Tianjin University. Standing here today, I feel so grateful and a little sad to say goodbye.I have learned a valuable lesson during my PhD study. True growth is not about how many achievements you get. It is about being brave enough to face uncertainity and keep going until you reach your goal.
Three years ago, I came to Tianjin. Everything was new and strange to me. I was not used to the life here, and I felt confused by cultural differences. I even felt lonely sometimes. But I was very lucky that all the teachers and students here were so kind and helpful. They treated me like family, and helped me get used to life in Tianjin. On weekends, I would go for a walk by the Haihe River with friends, watch the falling leaves in the WuDadao in autumn, and enjoy the crabapple flowers on campus in spring season. Today, three years later, I can sincerely say that天津就是我的第二个家. I have truly become someone who understands China, knows Tianjin, and loves Tianjin University.
Looking back on my study days here, every moment stays fresh in my mind. Our teachers taught me with great care and set a good example for me. They let me understand our school spirit:seektruthandstudywithdiscipline.Scientificresearchisnevereasy.Imetmany difficulties and felt lost many times. But my teachers always guided me and encouraged me. They gave me the strength to keep trying and move forward. With their help, I focused on my research, finished my PhD studies successfully, and published 9 SCI papers. I also took part in many international activities, and made true friends from different countries.
This year marks the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Pakistan. Over these 75 years, our two nations have walked hand in hand and forged anunbreakablebond.LivingandstudyingatTianjinUniversity,I’vewitnessedclose China-Pakistan cooperation firsthand, and I’m constantly touched by the kindness and sincerity of the Chinese people. That’s why I teamed up with my fellow Pakistani students studying here to writea jointletter.Wesharedourexperiences, heartfeltfeelingsandbestwisheswith President Xi Jinping, expressing our gratitude for the long-standing partnership and cherishing this friendship that stretches across mountains and oceans.
Recently, President Xi mentioned this letter when meeting with our Prime Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif, which made all of us very excited. He said that we should bebuilders of China-Pakistan cooperation, promoters of exchange, and guardians of friendship. This made me realize even more deeply that every research project and every cross-border exchange helps build the friendship between China and Pakistan brick by brick.
I want to sincerely thank all my teachers here, and thank Tianjin University for accepting me and giving me so many chances. Right now I’m applying to be a postdoc at this university. I hope I can stay here, keep working hard on my favorite research, act as a bridge linking China and Pakistan, tell good stories about China and let more people hear China’s voice.
In the end, I sincerely wish the friendship between China and Pakistan last forever. I wish all teachers good health and smooth work. I wish every student a bright future and all your dreams come true. And I truly wish Tianjin University all the best, now and always.
我爱中国,我爱天津,我爱天大!
Thank you!
