On the evening of June 8, the Qiu Shi Auditorium at Peiyangyuan Campus was illuminated for a special performance, commemorating the 40th anniversary of the Peiyang Dance Troupe at Tianjin University. Faculty, students, and alumni gathered to celebrate the milestone with a vibrant display of artistic excellence, expressing emotion through movement and honoring tradition through dance.

The performance opened with a series of ethnic and folk dances, including a portrayal of resilience in Ice Flower, a festive harvest scene in Autumn Ripe, and tributes to home and heritage in works such as Cloud and Water, The Moon Watcher, and Where Drums Echo. These were followed by modern and ballet segments. The final chapter featured classical Chinese dances.

As the last note faded, the performers took a heartfelt bow to long and enthusiastic applause.

Founded in 1985, the Peiyang Dance Troupe has become a hallmark of cultural life at Tianjin University. Over the decades, the troupe has created and staged acclaimed works across diverse styles, earning recognition both on and off campus. The group has garnered top honors in the Tianjin College Student Art Performances in 2022 and 2023, and regularly contributes to major university events such as anniversary galas, commencement ceremonies, and cultural showcases like “Tianjin in Three Minutes.” It remains a vital force in promoting traditional Chinese culture and the art of dance.
