From May 26 to 30, a delegation from Tianjin University, led by Vice President Li Bin, visited Russia to promote academic collaboration. The delegation participated in the 6th Annual Meeting of the Association of Sino-Russian Technical Universities (ASRTU) and the China-Russia University Presidents’ Forum. They also visited several key Russian universities, including Moscow Power Engineering Institute (MPEI), Gubkin University, and Lomonosov Moscow State University (MSU), and met with representatives from the Chinese Embassy in the Russian Federation.

On May 27, the delegation attended the ASRTU annual meeting and visited MPEI. Accompanied by Anastasia M. Mashkova, Director of Integrated Development, they toured the Institute of Hydropower and Renewable Energy, the Institute of Electric Power Engineering, and the university’s historical exhibition hall. Discussions with MPEI Vice President for International Affairs Alexander Y. Tarasov and Director of Internal Affairs Sergey V. Shirinskii focused on discipline development and talent cultivation, with both sides expressing a strong desire to build deeper, mutually beneficial partnerships.

On May 28, Li Bin delivered a keynote speech at the China-Russia University Presidents’ Forum titled “The Tianjin University Model and Practices in Emerging Engineering Education”. He shared insights into global trends in engineering education and Tianjin University’s pioneering efforts, while extending an invitation to Russian partner institutions to attend the upcoming International Conference on Engineering Education Development in Tianjin this September. Later that day, the delegation visited Gubkin University, where discussions with Vice President for International Affairs Alexander Maksimenko centered on future collaboration in petroleum engineering, chemical engineering, and electrical engineering.

On May 29, the delegation visited Moscow State University and met with Vice President Yuri A. Mazei and Director of International Development Igor P. Bochkov. The two sides reviewed past achievements in cooperation, particularly in precision instrumentation and applied mathematics, and discussed expanding joint research into laser physics and fundamental mathematics. Both parties expressed commitment to enhancing research collaboration and academic exchange.

On the same day, the delegation visited the Chinese Embassy in Russia and held a meeting with Minister Zhang Wei and Minister-Counselor Cao Shihai. LI Bin expressed gratitude for the embassy’s longstanding support and shared the achievements of Tianjin University and the outcomes of the Russia visit. Minister Zhang commended Tianjin University’s active role in advancing China-Russia cooperation, noting the increasing opportunities in bilateral education exchanges and encouraging the university to continue contributing to national diplomacy and people-to-people ties.
