Distinguished teachers, dear fellow students,
Good morning!
我是来自巴基斯坦的马思安，生物医学工程专业2025级博士生。It is both a privilege and a pleasure to stand before you on such a meaningful and inspiring occasion—the beginning of your journey at TJU.
I first came to China in 2022 to pursue my Master’s degree at Tianjin University. From the very first day, I realized that Tianjin University was more than an academic institution—it became a place of warmth, encouragement, and personal growth.
The campus is not only rich in history and innovation, but also embraces diversity. The professors are knowledgeable and always supportive. I made friends from all over the world, and we learned from one another—not only from textbooks, but also from each other's cultures, ideas, and perspectives.
On August 31, 2025, I had the honor of participating in the visit of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to Tianjin University during the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Summit. I was proud to welcome our Prime Minister. This visit reinforced my determination to contribute to Pakistan’s development and to play a role in strengthening Pakistan-China friendship by applying the knowledge I have acquired at Tianjin University.
During my Master’s studies, I maintained strong academic performance with consistently high grades across all subjects, while actively engaging in research. I worked on three major academic projects and published two high-level papers under the guidance of my supervisor.
Why have I chosen to continue my PhD at Tianjin University? Tianjin University has provided me with a platform for knowledge, confidence, and personal development. Here, I benefit from excellent mentorship, comprehensive resources, and a vibrant culture of innovation.
This journey will not always be easy. Your peers, professors, and the entire university community are here to help you succeed. Let’s seize every opportunity—academic, social, and cultural. Engage actively, ask questions courageously, participate in various activities, and most importantly, enjoy the journey.
Finally, I would like to say to the incoming first-year students: No matter where you come from, Tianjin University will be your new starting point to pursue dreams and realize your potential. Let us cherish our time here, study hard, explore fearlessly, become better versions of ourselves, and contribute more beauty to the world.
