Professor Wendy Larner, Vice-Chancellor of Cardiff University, United Kingdom, stated:Tianjin University already has an international reputation. It is one of the places that universities globally look to for innovation and engineering education and my view is that reputation can only grow from here. more recently we have had joint research projects across Cardiff University and Tianjin University. We have had student exchanges across the two universities. Professors who have visited the universities and spent time with each other. So there's a very deep relationship between our two universities. And we're now having conversations about how we can build on that, how we might work together for the future,and that's very exciting for me.Engineering education is one of those areas, but there are all sorts of research opportunities as well. So we have a bright future in front of us, in terms of the collaboration between the two universities. I'm absolutely delighted to have been invited to be here for this conference in part to help celebrate 130 years of Tianjin University. I know that Tianjin was China's first modern university. It's always been a very forward thinking university and it’s demonstrated that over and over again during the 130 years that we are celebrating You never said he and its demonstrated that over and over again, during the 130 years that we are celebrating. I seen my sincere congratulations to Tianjin University both on the really important leadership that has offered over the last one hundred and 30 years. And I also look forward to the future because Tianjin University truly is a global leader and we are very pleased to be part of that story for the next phase of Tianjin University’s history.
